13 days Tanzania safari takes place starting with a hiking experience on the highest mountain in Africa which is Mount Kilimanjaro. You will hike along the Marangu route which is the only route on the mountain which has hut accommodation.
You will also visit attractions in the northern part of Tanzania during your safari like Serengeti national park, Lake Manyara national park, Tarangire national park and the Ngorongoro conservation area.
The 13 days Tanzania safari will start in Arusha and also end in Arusha.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1; pick up and drive to hotel in Arusha
Your guide will pick you up from the airport and welcome you for your safari. You will also have a short briefing about the safari and you will be driven to your hotel in Arusha where you will have dinner and spend the night at Runako lodge.
Day 2; Arusha to Kilimanjaro (Marangu) to Mandara Hut
You will be driven from your hotel in Arusha to Marangu gate where you will begin your hiking of Mount Kilimanjaro. With the necessary trekking equipment in place, you will complete registration at the gate and then start your ascend. The hike will take about 4 to 5 hours of your 1st day of trekking.
You will also hike through forest on the way to Mandara hut where you will have you dinner and overnight.
Day 3; Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
You will start your hike from Mandara hut and this hike will take about 6 to 8 hours on Mount Kilimanjaro. You will trek through moorland and forests.
You will also enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks which are some of the peaks on Mount Kilimanjaro. This trail will lead you to Horombo hut where you will spend the night and have your dinner.
Day 4; Horombo Hut– Kibo Hut
After having your breakfast at Horombo hut, you will start your hike from Horombo hut for a time period of 6 to 8 hours. You will hike through alpine desert vegetation.
You will spend the night and also have your dinner from Kibo hut.
Day 5; Kibo hut to summit and back to Horombo hut
You will start your hike very early to get to Uhuru peak which is the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. Your hike to the summit will take about 4 to 5 hours through heath type of vegetation.
You will enjoy watching the sunset from the peak and spend some time there before starting your descend to Horombo hut for dinner and also to spend the night.
Day 6; Horombo hut to Marangu gate to Arusha
On the last day of your hiking adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro along the Marangu route, you will have breakfast and then start your descend to Marangu gate where you will be rewarded with your certificates and then you will meet your guide for your drive to Arusha where you will check in and have dinner and overnight at Runako lodge.
Day 7; drive to Lake Manyara national park
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha you will drive to Lake Manyara national park. You will have a stopover in Mto wa mbu town on the way to the national park. This national park is home to a big number of elephants which can be spotted during a safari as well as many other wildlife species such as waterbucks, antelopes, gazelles, buffalos, tree climbing lions among others.
You will have your lunch at your lodge as you prepare to engage in a game drive in Lake Manyara national park and enjoy the diverse scenery as you search for the different wildlife species around the national park. After your game drive, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight Nsya lodge.
Day 8; transfer to Serengeti national park
After having breakfast at your lodge, you will check out of the lodge and prepare to be driven to Serengeti national park which is the oldest national park in Tanzania and is also a popular tourist destination. During your safari in Serengeti national park, you will search for wildlife species such as the big 5 which includes elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos and buffalos. You will check in and have lunch at your lodge in Serengeti national park.
You will also engage in an evening game drive in Serengeti national park after lunch at your lodge. You will return to your lodge after the game drive for dinner and overnight at Osinon camps and lodges.
Day 9; full day in Serengeti national park
Breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare for a full day game viewing experience in Serengeti national park. You will start with a morning game drive during which you will explore the central part of Serengeti national park and look out for wildlife species in the open savannah plains such as wildebeests, elands, impalas, gazelles, kudu, waterbucks, giraffes, hippos, lions, leopards, zebras among others. You will have lunch after your morning game drive in the national park.
After your lunch, you will engage in another game drive in Serengeti national park and explore attractions in the national park and also enjoy the scenery around the national park. Your guide will drive you back to your lodge after your game drive for dinner and overnight as the day before at Osinon camps and lodges.
Day 10; drive to Ngorongoro crater
After breakfast at the lodge, you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation area. You will have lunch before descending about 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater for amazing wildlife viewing opportunities and to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will look out for a variety of animals during your game drive such as wildebeests, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants as well as predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, leopard.
You will also visit Lake Magadi which is a large but shallow alkaline lake in the crater. You will see a large number of flamingos, hippos as well as other bird species during your visit to the lake. You will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s tree inn.
Day 11; drive to Tarangire national park
Breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare to drive to Tarangire national park where you will enjoy seeing more herds of elephants as well as the baobab trees during your safari. This national park is also home to over 600 bird species. You will have lunch after checking in at your lodge.
You will engage in an afternoon game drive after your lunch and explore Tarangire national park in search of wildlife species like lions, leopards, buffalos, waterbucks, antelopes, elands, impalas, giraffes among others. Your dinner and overnight will be at Baobab tented lodge.
Day 12; full day in Tarangire national park
Your breakfast will be served early at your lodge ahead of your morning game drive in Tarangire national park during which you will spot various wildlife species in the savannah such as elephants, antelopes, zebras, buffalos, lions, gazelles, klipspringers among others. After your morning game drive, you will have your lunch.
After lunch, you will engage in another game drive in Tarangire national park as you explore the savannah plains in search of wildlife species and also to enjoy seeing the beautiful landscape in the national park during your safari. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as the day before at Baobab tented lodge.
Day 13; drive to Arusha
You will have breakfast at your lodge in Tarangire national park as you prepare to drive to Arusha. You will have an en route game drive in the national park as you look out for the wildlife species on your way to Arusha where your guide will drop you off at the airport which will bring your safari to an end.
