6 Days Lemosho Trekking Safari
6 Days Lemosho trekking safari is the shortest Lemosho route variation. The trekker treks longer on the first 2 days with an elevation of around 3,000 meters.
Day 1 Moshi to Londorosi Gate to the Forest Camp (7,800ft to 9500ft)
Wake up early from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and drive to mount Kilimanjaro to Londorosi Gate. Have briefing by the park authorities before you start your trek of the day which will take you 3-4 hours depending on the fitness. We will be covering 6 kilometers on our first day till we reach the first camp called forest camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 2 Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2 (9,500ft to 12,500ft)
After our early morning breakfast, we start our trek of the day which will take us 8 to 10 hours depending on your hiking experience. The journey of the day is 18 kilometers through volcanic rocks that are draped by lichen beards. The trek is very scenic as we pass through rolling hills and streams till we reach to Shira camp 1 where we will have a lunch break. After lunch proceed gently to Shira camp 2 via Kibo glacier peak as we walk Eastwards. Dinner and overnight at Shira 2 camp.
Day 3 Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp (12,500ft to 13000ft)
On this 3rd day of 6 days Lemosho trekking safari we trek for 6-8 hours covering a journey of 10 kilometers. We continue to the East up to the ridge through the junction towards the Kibo peak. The direction will shortly change to the South East to the Lava tower called the “Sharks Tooth”. The trek will continue down to the Barranco hut where we will have our tents raised and we rest for the day. This helps for acclimatization during your trek to the summit
Day 4 Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (13,000ft to 15,000ft)
We now start smiling as our journey is almost becoming fruitful at this point. This is the determinant of our 6 days Lemosho trekking safari whether you reach the summit or not. Waking up early finding our chef ready with breakfast, we take heavy breakfast before we start the trek to the next camp. The distance is 9 kilometers that will take us 8 to 10 hours through Alpine Desert via Karanga camp. We will reach Barafu camp as we come to the end of the South circuit that gives us clear views of many angles of Mt Kilimanjaro. He rests early as we prepare for the last summit day.
Day 5 Barafu camp to Sumit to Mweka Hut (15,000ft to 19,345ft (down to 10,000ft)
Along awaited day of our 6 days Lemosho trekking safari, waking up at midnight to hike up for our way to the summit through heavy Scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. We can have a brief stop at Stella point where we rest before we head for the magnificent peak found in between Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers.
After reaching the summit we raise our flags, enjoy sunrise views before we start to slope down to Mweka hut. Have a stop at Barafu camp for lunch before we keep sloping to our final destination camp of the day. Dinner and overnight as we jubilate at Mweka camp.
Day 6 Mweka to Moshi
As we come to the conclusion of our 6 days Lemosho trekking safari, we start with breakfast before we descend down to the gate where we receive our certificates before we drive off to Moshi for our celebration and rest.
