7 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari Rongai Route: Rongai Route is the only route found on the Northern sector of Mt Kilimanjaro, it takes about 6 to 7 days to reach to the peak when using Rongai Route. It’s also one of the challenging routes to use especially is one needs only 6 days to reach to the peak only around 65% have succeeded on this route for six days, at least 7 days around 80% hence the route needs some hiking experience and certain level of fitness.

Itinerary

Day 1. Arusha to Rogai Gate to Simba Camp (2600m)

Meet by our driver guide at your Hotel, depart for Mt Kilimanjaro national park headquarters at Marangu gate for your registration after that we drive to Rongai gate where our adventure starts from, we will meet with our potters and chef at the gate.

The hike starts at Nale Moru Village as we pass in agricultural land as we enter to the pine forest till we reach to our first camp where we will have our rest and dinner.

Day 2. Simba camp to Second Cave

On this day we plan for our next hike to the second cave as we try to get used to the atmosphere of the area as our hike continues with great changes in the altitude. Its always known geographically that the Higher one goes the cooler it becomes and this gives as a profile why we need all categories of hiking clothes from light to the heaviest one since the temperatures keeping changing and lowering at all times.

Depending on the physical fitness of the team, we may reach around lunch time or late afternoon to our second cave where we will get hot lunch and afternoon relaxing, we erect our camps in the evening then have dinner and overnight.

Day 3. Second Cave to Kikelewa Cave (3600m)

Start our days with heavy delicious breakfast, we depart the second cave and hike up to the Kikelewa Cave which is 3600 meters. This is one of the caves where water streams are available, you will feel the cold breeze of the mountain. Our chef along with the potters goes ahead of us to prepare for the camps and hot water for showering, get dinner ready.

Day 4. Kikelewa Cave to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4330m)

The higher you go the cooler it becomes now this one the higher you go the harder it becomes, you will meet your challenge start here as it marks the end of the vegetation cover and you start with the bare rock when you approach the Mawenzi Camp. Have lunch at the camp, erect the tents and relax in this area take pictures and enjoy the true African sun at sun set.

Day 5. Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut (4700m)

The hike of the day will be 4 to 5 hours, starting the day with breakfast then start the hike through Kibo crossing between Mwezi Saddle and Kibo Saddle. We will reach to the kibo hut at later afternoon have warm water for refreshment as we wait for lunch and afternoon relaxing and long day rest as we prepare to ambush the peak at our dream time.

Day 6. Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5895)

on the 6th day of the  Days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari Rongai Route , Enjoy the feeling of victory as we wake up after half sleep to start our road to the victory point, we will start the hike at around midnight with our headlamps going through rocky landscapes to Hans Meyer cave, the road is in a zigizag till we reach Gillman’s point around the crater rim. This is a point we call show your hiking experience with steep stones as we approach Gillman’s point where we start getting snow till Uhuru peak. After we do all the celebrations at this point we then descend down as we start return back to the base of the mountain.

Day 7. Horombo Hut to Marangu gate

on the the 7th  day  of 7 Days Kilimanjaro Hiking Safari Rongai Route, After morning jubilating breakfast, we descend down to the gate through Mandara hut down to Marangu gate. Warm welcome from the park administration as your waiting certificates are ready to be distributed. All the successful ones always get Gold certificates and the other get Green certificates. Our driver guide will be meeting you here to transfer you back to Arusha
