A DETAILED ITINERARY: 8 DAYS TANZANIA NORTHER SAFARI CIRCUIT

Day 1. Your arrival at Arusha or Moshi

When you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a member of Focus East Africa Tour’s Team will be there to greet you and transfer you to your hotel or lodge in Arusha or Moshi. You can take the remainder of the day to yourself to unwind, recover from your travel, and get ready for your 8-day Northern Tanzania Safari the following morning.

Day 2: Arusha National Park

We proceed to Arusha National Park from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, where we see the flamingos at the Momela Lakes, the majestic peak of craggy Mount Meru, and herds of buffalo in the Ngurdoto Crater. In the park’s compact yet active 53 square miles of natural ecosystems, a variety of species can be found, including giraffes, zebras, colobus monkeys, leopards, and hyenas.

Enjoy a picnic lunch while seeing the Savannah’s wooded ridges and undulating slopes, a national treasure. We return to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for supper and overnight accommodation at the conclusion of the day.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

Today, for some wonderful game viewing, we travel to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is a tiny park with some wonderful scenery. Tarangire comes alive during the dry seasons as a result of the wildlife and fauna gathering on the Tarangire River, a permanent source of water. After spending the entire day at Tarangire National Park, we spend the night in a lodge that is exquisitely situated inside the park and has a distinctive ambiance and breathtaking views.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park

Today we travel to Lake Manyara National Park, where we will spend the entire day taking in the wild, untamed beauty of nature.

Despite being one of Tanzania’s smaller parks, this one nonetheless provides an enjoyable and varied safari experience. At Lake Manyara, the shoreline is teeming with birdlife, and if you look closely, you could see one of the elusive tree-climbing lions.

The Rift Escarpment’s magnificent cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop, and there are a surprising amount of other huge species as well. We leave the park in the late afternoon and travel just a short distance to our exclusive tented camp, where we have dinner and have time to relax and prepare for the next day.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is the next stop on our 8-day Northern Tanzania Safari. We’ll stop along the way to see Olduvai Gorge. In the 1950s, Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the most significant archaeological finds in the history of the world within this ravine with steep sides. There is a little museum near Olduvai Gorge where we can view artifacts from our ancestors that date back 2.5 million years.

After lunch, we make our way into the Serengeti, where we spend the remainder of the afternoon game-viewing in the huge plains that are only occasionally punctuated by kopjes and stands of acacia trees. Large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle will typically meet the migration in December, January, and February.

Numerous resident creatures, like giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants, as well as many powerful predators, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards, are always there. We’ll have somewhere to stay the night at Serengeti National Park.

Day 6. Serengeti National Park

We have another full day in this magnificent park, and we’re getting up early to make the most of it. Our knowledgeable safari guides will select the ideal spotting sites for the season.

Serengeti N.P

You will spend time at the Hippo Pool observing these magnificent animals lying around in the cool water, calmly coexisting with the crocodiles. You might be lucky and witness lion prides during your stay, or you might be in the thick of the migration season, when we are occasionally surrounded by wildebeest and zebras.

We travel from the broad open plains to the Kopjes, which are volcanic rocky outcrops that give refuge and shelter for a large range of animals, and from the top we can see across the immense Serengeti grasslands.

In addition to seeing all the plain animals, such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, lions, and, if you’re lucky, leopards and cheetahs, this diverse and fascinating landscape will also give us the best opportunity for game viewing. We will also see a huge variety of fascinating birds, from the graceful secretary bird to the flightless ostrich. After a very long day, you will arrive back at the camp fatigued but content, ready for a pleasant evening spent in the company of nature.

Day 7. Ngorongoro Crater

Before moving on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we begin the day with an early-morning wildlife drive within Serengeti National Park.

Due to the fact that Ngorongoro is a conservation area, the entire region is managed for the benefit of the animals and the native Masai people, who graze their cattle alongside the local species. We get to see a bit of the Masai way of life while driving through the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area.

We will drive around the rim of the crater itself after arriving at the entrance gate, where there is an opportunity to learn more about this amazing volcanic scenery. From here, we can look down and observe the herd of wildebeest and buffalo.

We finally enter the crater itself. There are many creatures to witness, including lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and leopards (if you’re lucky), because the crater walls act as a natural sanctuary for the animals. The giraffe is the only animal you won’t see in this area because of its long legs’ inability to negotiate the crater’s steep edges.

Day 8: Head back to Moshi or Arusha.

After breakfast, we’ll head to Arusha or Moshi, where you may unwind after your fantastic 8-day Northern Tanzania Safari and enjoy the local area, particularly the Masai market.
