Machame Route: Like earlier discussed this is one of the most if not the most popular route. Over 50% of the guests to Kilimanjaro use this route. It is may be because this route has one of the best scenery and great landscape.
This route is although a bit difficult as the days go by but still no technical skills is required on this route and it covers over 60km .
One can hike to the summit through this route within 6 or 7 days. Both options include a climb high, sleep low acclimatization day.
Day One – From Machame Gate (1,640 meters) to Machame Camp (2,835 meters)
Day Two –From Machame Camp (2,835 meters) to Shira Camp 2 (3,850 meters)
Day Three – From Shira Camp 2 (3,850 meters) to Lava Tower (4,600 meters) and then Barranco Camp (3,900 meters)
Day Four– From Barranco Camp (3,900 meters) to Karanga Camp (3,960 meters) (and then Barafu Camp – 4,680 meters)
Day Five– From Barafu Camp (4,680 meters) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) and then Mweka Camp (3,100 meters)
Day Six –From Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters)
